Widening of the A137 to form dedicated right hand turn for new business estate.  This involved the installation of new highway kerbs and Mono Beany drainage kerbs, new road signage and road markings.  Excavation and formation of road widening area made up of Type 1 sub-base and new asphalt surfacing tied into existing tarmac.  We had to install drainage across both sides of the carriageway into a new drainage swale.  Works also included alterations to Vicarage Lane for visibility, signage and new entrance into Wherstead Park Barns.  The works to the A137 were all carried out under traffic management.  The original design for the surface water drainage clashed with important fibre optic ducts that couldn't be moved, this resulted in the drainage being redesigned to the Mono Beany kerbs. Clear communication with the client, designer and Suffolk Highways helped alleviate the challenges faced.
