We delivered major redevelopment works at Veolia’s Norwich depot, beginning with the demolition of existing buildings before constructing new welfare and office facilities, HGV parking areas, fuel bay infrastructure, and extensive drainage and M&E installations. In phase two, we constructed a new Waste Transfer Station building, workshop, vehicle wash bay with recycling system, and weighbridge works. All activities were carried out while coordinating access to the operational parts of the site and maintaining HGV movements throughout the works.
The project presented significant challenges, including working within a live waste-management environment, maintaining safe vehicle routes, managing demolition risks, asbestos, and navigating complex underground services. We overcame these through detailed planning, strict segregation of construction and operational areas, robust traffic-management controls, phased handovers, and close liaison with Veolia’s operational team. This ensured the works were delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to ongoing site operations.
