This project involved the construction of a new infill extension to create a reception classroom and a new flexible group room, enhancing the school’s teaching and learning spaces. A key challenge was that many of the school’s existing services ran directly through the building footprint, requiring careful investigation, coordination, and a highly controlled approach during the foundation works to ensure uninterrupted operation of the school and its services.
The works were carried out on a small, constrained school site located within the existing playground in London. Limited space, restricted access, and the need to maintain safe separation between construction activities and pupils presented significant challenges. Through detailed planning and considerate site management, the project was delivered successfully despite the logistical constraints of a tight urban school environment.
