The works comprised the removal of existing gas boilers, installation of a deep drilled ground pipework system to new ground source heat pumps, which included the alteration of existing heating systems and substantial improvement of the building envelopes to improve insulation by replacement of roofing, windows, cladding etc to both the Waterloo Centre and the Children’s Centre (known as the family hub) in Waterloo Road, Leiston.
Pictured are the two buildings serviced by the deep drilled array of ground source pipework as much as 165m deep in the playing fields to the rear of the properties. In addition to the upgrades in the building fabric, the Waterloo Centre benefits from an additional photovoltaic solar panel array on the roof.
Both buildings are now considered carbon neutral with zero emissions and minimal heating costs.
