WHAT WE DO

At Brooks & Wood, we take pride in offering a comprehensive, fully integrated service that covers every stage of the building process. Operating across a wide range of sectors, including Commercial & Industrial, Residential, Education, Community & Healthcare, Leisure & Retail, Refurbishment, and Civil Engineering, we deliver projects up to £15 million in value.

Our Small Works and Facilities Management division supports public sector clients on projects up to £500k, providing both planned and reactive maintenance, including for Suffolk County Council. With extensive experience across all major contract forms and public sector frameworks, we deliver seamless service from design and planning through to construction, handover, and aftercare.

Undertaking every type and value of project up to schemes of £15 million in value, we continually strive to provide a quality product whilst firmly understanding the core values of our Clients and stakeholders and working within the project budgets and time constraints.

How We Do It

We are an award-winning, traditional construction business that has evolved from a family firm founded over 50 years ago, maintaining our personal approach and strong core values.

With four Owner/Directors actively involved in day-to-day operations and scheme-level delivery, we ensure every client receives consistent, hands-on service.

Our goal is to deliver high-quality projects safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while upholding our values of honesty, approachability, collaboration and fairness with a non-contractual approach underpinning these values. We take pride in the relationships we build and the repeat business that follows.

The continuing aim of the Directors is to further enhance our reputation that has been established over the last fifty years. Central to this is our collaborative approach and conscientious staff, many of whom have been with Brooks & Wood since leaving school, together with a carefully selected supply chain, to ensure the name of Brooks & Wood Ltd remains synonymous with quality of service and expertise.

Our Values

Our values extend beyond construction, shaping how we protect people, support communities, and safeguard the environment.

Health and Safety

At Brooks & Wood, we take the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, supply chain and stakeholders extremely seriously. We provide safe, enjoyable working conditions, whether at our head office or on sites across the East of England, and encourage everyone to promote good practice and report any concerns openly.

We believe a safe and happy workforce leads directly to better outcomes for our clients. With an open-door culture and hands-on Directors, all employees are treated fairly and supported equally. Our managers receive mental health training to identify and address issues early, ensuring help is available when needed.

We also work closely with external health and safety advisors to maintain our commitment to continuous improvement across all areas of the business.

Corporate Social Responsibility

At Brooks & Wood, we understand the positive impact our work can have on both the environment and the communities we serve. We aim to ensure every project leaves a lasting benefit, and we encourage our teams and supply chain partners to take pride in the legacy their work creates.

Collaboration and strong relationships help us understand our clients’ and stakeholders’ goals, allowing us to tailor our approach to deliver real community value. Beyond our projects, we actively support local charities and initiatives through sponsorship, fundraising, mentoring, volunteering and engagement opportunities. We’re also proud to back local sport, from grassroots clubs to Ipswich Town Football Club and its Community Foundation.

With over 90 local employees and a trusted regional supply chain, we continue to grow steadily and sustainably — supporting local jobs, skills and the wider economy across East Anglia.

Environmental Sustainability

At Brooks & Wood, we’re committed to minimising our environmental impact and continually improving our sustainability performance. Our ISO 14001 accreditation demonstrates this commitment, supported by extensive staff training in sustainable and lean construction methods. We ensure our teams stay up to date with best practice and evolving environmental legislation.

We actively seek to enhance the environments in which we work — creating new habitats, improving biodiversity and introducing green spaces wherever possible. Beyond our sites, we’ve taken major steps to operate responsibly through electric vehicle schemes, sustainable technologies at our head office and improved recycling practices.

With robust controls to manage noise, dust and waste, we give our clients confidence that their projects are delivered ethically and sustainably. Guided by our carbon reduction plan, we continue to set and review clear targets on our journey towards achieving net zero.
